Landing and Moors and Christians Festival 2026
A dawn beach battle, grand parades and four festival days in El Campello
12 to 15 October
The official poster dates the Moors and Christians festival from Monday 12 to Thursday 15 October. The celebration recalls sixteenth-century clashes with Barbary pirates and combines historical re-enactment, music, gunpowder and religious traditions.
The Landing on 12 October
Early on Monday 12 October, the best-known event takes place: Moorish troops arrive by boat at Playa Carrer la Mar and meet the Christian defenders in a large-scale spectacle of historical costumes, fire, music and staged battle. The grand parade crosses the town centre that afternoon.
Embassies and final day
The following days feature parades, noisy mock battles and theatrical embassies depicting conflict and changes of power. Thursday 15 October centres on religious ceremonies honouring Saint Teresa and Our Lady of the Forsaken. A procession and fireworks close the festival.
Admission and locations
Public activities on the beach and streets are free to attend. No general tickets or reservations are listed; personal expenses are not included. Check the current official event page shortly before travelling.
The programme uses the beach, town centre and other locations. The map shows Playa Carrer la Mar only as an orientation point for the Landing.
